It Is situated In tho extreme southwestern portion of tho beautiful stato whoso name, derived from two words, signifies sig-nifies "green" nnd "mountain." It wns hero that tho prldo-swollcn Bur-goyno Bur-goyno cast a covetous eye on tho supplies sup-plies and stores gathered from tho fertile prolific fields, and to secure which for his hungry mercenaries ho sent out on army early in August, 1777, under Col.
