Show Meetings of the Garland Gar-land Town Board. TO ESTABLISH GRADE. Clerk W. P. Eaton Resigns 1. L. Bush Chosen to Fill Vacancy. A Special Spec-ial Session Wednesday Night The regular monthly meeting of the Garland Town Board was held Tuesday evening in the rooms of the Gurland Commercial Club nil members present but T. II. Edwards. Merchants M A Boot ho aud Dan Parry wore present and petitioned the Board for either a reduction in the amount of tho local license) or that the license of traveling wercuauta such as meat wagons, etc i be raised to the amount churged local merchants. Tho matter was left to a committee consiitiug of H. C. Vanausdeln liud J. T. Laut for adjustment. ad-justment. Tho report of the Building Committee was then called for, aud Secrlst , as chairman, chair-man, reported that the contractors had just completed the hard finish and was of thu opluion that same was ready for the placiug of cells. The gentlemen In question agreed to ascertniu fur certain on the morrow aud ndiisc the President. ManJial Hcnrlc submitted his report, which was accepted and ordered tiled Tho Justice's report was also heard aud accepted. Tbo matter of drainage of the Town was discussed, and Pro-ideiit Rowe authorized to communicate with tho O S L Railway Co. as well as other own ers of property adjacent 15 thu Towu in an effort to secure a more thurougli system sys-tem of drainage. The Clerk read to the Board a communication com-munication from the R M I) Tel. Co. respecting re-specting thu granting of a frauchl o to operate their telcphouo system lu the corporate limits. The matter was left in the hands of a committee consisting of W II Rowe aud John T Lnut. Town Clerk, W P Eaton, asked that his resignation as clerk be accepted, on the ground that his manifold duties outside out-side of tho town work prevented him giving the proper amount of time and attention to his work as Towu Clerk. Mr Eaton's resignation was reluctantly accepted by the Board. Mr RL Bush, by unanimous vote, was appoluted to the Kisitlon mudu vacuut by tho resignation of Clerk Eaton, bis salary to remain the same as that paid Clerk Eaton, resigned. Mr Eaton was tendered a hearty vote of thanks for the efficient manner in which thu accounts of the town had been handled, hand-led, and also for the timely advise which at all times has been given by him. Thu president was authorized to present Mr Eaton with a letter of thanks, signed by the entire board. Trusteu Lnnt was appointed ap-pointed to check Mr Eaton out of office. Tho matter of sending asslstaucu to tho victims of tho San Francisco disaster was discussed, and it was decided that the Town Board, in conjunction with the Church aud Commercial Club, taku steps for thu relief of thosu uufortuuato eo-plu. eo-plu. Upon motion duly carried, thu meeting meet-ing was adjourned. BI'KCIAI. MKETINO. At a special incut lug of thu Town Board C. W. Knudsonand Wm. Preston, representing thu Garland Mercantile Co., appeared and requested that a town grade bo established.
