Show I New York Democrats. , Of course New York politicians will I turn up their noses at Mr. Henry Watterson, when he tells the truth concerning them, as he did in the I Courier-Journal editorial which was re- I produced in the IkralVs teUgraph- I ic columns on Thursday; but they I cannot hide from the Democracy of the nation the fact that Uit Democracy j of New York is an untrustworthy and mischievous institution which is eternally eter-nally annoying, distressing and endangering en-dangering the party elsewhere. By reason rea-son of the strife and bickering in New York Democrats throughout the nation are kept on the ragged edge, whereas if the party were united and harmonious harmon-ious in the great state we could count upon results with a reasonable degree of certainty. There has not been a national convention for twety-five years when the party has not bowed down to New York. In -building- platforms plat-forms New York has been vermitted to fashion the planks,' and in selecting candidates care has been taken to choose those who gave best promise of harmonizing the factions in the Empire Em-pire state, no other part of the union being taken into account. The Democracy cannot yet succed witheut the assistance of New York, but we believe Mr. Watterson utters t he sentiments of the national Democracy when he intimates that the party may cease to bow down before the autocrat and will tell the New York Democrats that if they would be influential they must quit quarreling among themselves must harmonize and be patriots, thinking think-ing more of the party success than of personal train. Should the Democratic eRtiment continue to spread and increase in-crease in ti e west as it has done during dur-ing the past two years, there will be tin occasion for the Democrats to stand in awe of the quarrelsome factions in NVw Yrk, and the Dem-'cracy of that tate will find that its power for both good and evil has departed. It is predicted pre-dicted that unlessthe New York Democrats Demo-crats shall come together and shall manifest a willingness to make something some-thing of a sacrifice for the welfare of hf party, thr next national conventio will lie the last one in which it wi;j wield the controling power.
