Show THE LEGISLATURE. Lous Debate in the Council on Bounties. IN THE LOWER HOUSE There Was Very Little Business Done Yesterday The Legislators Will Visit The Academy "While in Provo Next Saturday-Will Visit the Sugrar Factory Fac-tory at Lehi. In the council yesterday the time was consumed almost entirely in the debate on the memorial asking congress con-gress to retain the bounty on sugar. Many able speeches were made and the discussion was tinged all through with a great deal of warmth. A communication from the house stated that the governor had signed the contingent expense bill, the resolution resolu-tion relating to the Utah exhibit at the midwinter fair, also the memorial relating to the escheated property of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day saints. An invitation to visit the Brigham Young academy at Provo during the Wines presented a petition in favor of the bill giving a bounty to.suear beet growers. This was signed by a committee of the bwd .f directors of the Utah Sugar company. Fowers moyed to refer - to the committee on agriculture. Varian did not wish it so referred, but wanted it to go to the manufactures committee. Tolton wanted to know if the people wanted two bounties. Stanford moved a reference to the committee on manufactures. manu-factures. Roll call and so referred. The principal of the B. Y. academy invited the assembly to visit that institution in-stitution while at Provo. Accepted with thanks. Allen presented a petition in relation to constables and justices. The committee on enrollment reported re-ported that the statehood memorial had been Bent to the governor. |
