Show L. S. Glaziek departs on Saturday morning of this week for a two years, mission to the southern states. The prayers of his fellow churchmen and the good will of all classes go with friend Glazier and will abide with him. Both houses of the territorial legis lature having accepted the invitation of the B. Y. academy to visit that institution in-stitution on Saturday of this week, j school will be held that dav in order to I give the solons an opportunity of seeing the practical workings of the academy. The benefit ball in the First ward last night given in honor of J. C. Knudsen and A. S. Jones was a grand affair indeed. Never was an evening spent more enjoyably anywhere. The supper was magnificent and the crowd was immense. One hundred and forty-tickets forty-tickets were sold and a purse of nearly j $100,00 was raised. Thehk were five of the old veterans of the Blackhawk war from Pleasant Grove came in today on their way to Springville. The party consisted of Major 13. D. Driges, Lewis P. Lund. Robert Thorne, Frederick Thorne and James Thorne. They have their horses and their old war equipments, flags, etc. Thev were joined here by eome twenty of our local veterans. They expect ex-pect a right royal time of it. W. II. Gay of Spanish Fork filed papers in the district court today praying pray-ing for divorce from hiB wife Sarah. Mr. Gay allej.es that on July 14, 1892, and on divers daysjthereafler, his wife committed adultery with one John i Larson, and that she is now unlawfully . cohabiting with Larson at Smithfield, Utah. Also that in December 1891, disregarding the solemnity of her marriage mar-riage vow willfully and without cause deserted and abandoned the plaintiff, and that she is not a fit woman to have the custody of the three children. The couple were married sixteen years ago. |
