Show Board of Education. The board of education met last evening at the usual time and olace. The bonds of the treasurer and clerk were submitted and approved. Superintendent Ka.vlings reported that at an examination of teachers held on January ilth and 12th, A. C. Sorensen received a second grade cert'-ficate cert'-ficate and May Ash worth and E iith lloldaway each a third grade certiii I cate. The committee on finance reported having audited the financial statement of the district prepared by the clerk, and found the satm; correct. The statement was ordered published. It appears in another column of this is sue of The Dispatch. The committee on teachers and school work reported having employed Edith lloldaway to teach in the Parker schoolhouse, and S. P. lggert-sen lggert-sen Jr. to teach in the Franklin. Report Re-port adopted. The memorial asking for legislation legisla-tion permitting cities of the eecond class to levy a higher rate of tax for school purposes was read, adopted and the prenident and clerk instructed to sign three copies and forward the same to Salt Lake city, one to the governor, one. to the council and one to the houe. Claims for anatomical aid, $39.00, and for blackboard, etc., $31.90, were allowed, as was also $10.()i) to A, C. Sorensen for sen ices as teacher. The committe3 ou sites and bi'ild inj.8 was authorized to repair the First ward schoolliouse. It now leaks. Board adjourned. |
