SFHS students respond to longer Christmas break Mackenzie Acosta SFHS Courtesy photo CAROLING CAROLING: Members of the SFHS Choirs performed at Temple Square on Dec. 17. Last year at about this time, we were all excited for our Christmas break. However, we were also all unpleasantly aware that it was going to be a short break at that. Our first no-school day was the 21st, and then we were back the day after New Year's. But this year, we have something to celebrate (along with the late snow)... a longer Christmas break. Almost a whole school-week longer. Last year it was a 12 day break. This year it's 16. We get out of school Friday the 19th, and don't come back until Jan. 6. When asked what he's going to do over the long break, Carlos Garcia said, "I have family that came from Mexico and Brazil. And we'll have a huge dinner. And I'll probably go skating a few times, swim practice, relax, and sleep in." When asked why she's happy we get a longer break, Ekta Bedi said, "Because we get to spend more time with our fam• ily and sleep in. We have more time to get caught up on homework, and just more time to be with everyone." I know what I'm going to do too. I'm going to go to the Body Worlds exhibit before it ends in January, finish a quilt from six months ago, and I'm, going to go snowboarding and shopping. Georgina Reginato said she was glad we got a longer breajc because "it's more of a mental break [from school]." So everyone, enjoy it and live it up. Skiers and snowboarders, carve it up. Shoppers, shop it up. Sleepers, sleep it up. Merry Christmas!
