They celebrated Constitution Day on Sept. 17th by walking through the Milestones of Freedom. East Meadows was turned into Ellis Island with an interactive assembly where the students learned what it was like to be an immigrant at Ellis Island as they obtained passports, passed the citizenship test, and took the Oath of Citizenship. Through hands on activities, students learned more about America's history and how people fought for the freedoms we now enjoy. Students displayed their Certificates of Citizenship proudly.
