Show -NEWS- B6 • WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2008 Spanish Fork Covering what matters most SFHS choirs perform Variety Show Hillary Herbert SFHS On Sept. 18, the SFHS Choir Booster Club hosted the 2008 Community Variety Show, "Defying Gravity," at Spanish Fork High School. Residents from all over Spanish Fork came to perform for the community. Every branch of the choir came together singing Defying Gravity. Members of the choir were nervous for their debut performance in their 2008-2009 season of song. "I was actually really nervous before hand," said Dane Carlson. "But we all did really well." Carlson wasn't the only member on edge. Soloist Jennifer Mills said, "It was nerve racking because I was afraid of forgetting my words, but in the end it was worth it." Spanish Fork's Ambassadors program performed Get On Your Feet exceptionally well, delighting the audience with up-beat song and dance. Members of Ambassadors practiced months ahead for this event. "We spent hours practicing early in the morning and throughout the week. We even went to a retreat during the summer to practiceP* said Tasha Newman, a member of Ambassadors. Shea Bradshaw, SFHS Choir Director, expressed his delight when he said, "It was very^exciting!" Drew Briney juggled his way into the audience's hearts with his thrilling ability to animate a story through juggjing. Every flick of his wrist sent the crowd into a chorus of "ooo's"and"ahhhhV\ After the show, Dominic Bills said, "It rocked my socks off!" GET ON YOUR FEET: Above, the Ambassadors-finish big with their first number, "Get On Your Feet." TAKING OUT THE TRASH: The Spanish Fork Jr. High's "cleaning crew," a.k.a. percussion ensemble, performs "Stinkin1 Garbage," below. These are just a few of the emotions to be portrayed in this year's Shakespeare's Night of Scenes and Monologues, performed by Spanish Fork High School's Shakespeare Team. Night of Scenes and Monologues is Thursday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Spanish Fork High School Little Theatre. This night is a chance for the Team to show the performances they are taking to Cedar City in two weeks to compete with at the Shakespearean Festival. After the performances, the two scenes and two monologues chosen to go to the festival will be announced.
