In years past, the spirit of American Leadership Academy has been low, if any spirit was manifest at all. The 08-09 student government has sought to change that, and has found success in their first challenge: Spirit Week. Many students eagerly dressed up according to the theme of the day, and some also spent their lunch period participating in similarly-themed activities. Even teachers offered their time to contribute to the spirit, as well as taking full advantage of re-inventing their wardrobe. Monday was Hawaiian day, full of grass skirts and flower leis, with students trying their limbo skills. Tuesday was disco day, where hippies were found sharing the love and many more students were competing at Dance Dance Revolution. Wednesday was the popular rock star day, with a Guitar Hero contest, lots of black makeup and punk hairdos. Even Spanish Fork's resident John Lennon (Rebecca Overall) was found giving autographs on Wednesday. Thursday was peppered with 60's attire, with hippies, bouffants, and a spirited jive during the dance contest. Then, in preparation for Homecoming game, Friday was overall spirit day, where students rendered their faces in red, white and blue and enjoyed the pep rally on the football field.
