ALA's production of Aladdin sold out fourof the five nights last year, so we recommend that you purchase your tickets early to guarantee you a seat. This production features not only the characters you remember from the book and films, but also 110 Oompa Loompas (grades K-12) singing, dancing and teaching the lessons of life. This show is not without numerous technical challenges, those being to "blow-up" gumchewing Violet, float Grandpa Joe and Charlie up into the air, turn Augustus into a chocolate bunny, and not to forget throwing poor Veruca to the squirrels. But, this production will not disappoint, as many experts have helped to pull these "impossibilities" to "probabilities." Lighting expert Talus Jarvis is on board, as well as numerous engineers an<^ builders from the community. Costume designer Carol Fairbanks is once again demonstrating her enormous talents, along with choreographer Amberly Cloward. Entertainment and Theatrical Sound and Lighting owner Terry Ficklin is sponsoring many of the special effects. Rick Josephsen, special effects coordinator for many Disney movies has helped rig the flying sequences. The difference in these productions and other local high school productions, is the amount of volunteer participation from the parents, fellow teachers and administration. Head ofmaintenance, Brandon Tate spends all his after-school hours building the incredible set with teacher/designer Spencer Moody. Teachers Heidi Olsen, Holly Aaron and Sandy Millet spend every afternoon assisting with rehearsals. American Leadership Academy encourages strong parental participation and making the impossible become reality. Indeed parents like Steve Fausett, Court Lambson and Rick Ormond have stepped in to lend building and engineering expertise. Brenden Clements, also a teacher, has helped rig the golden tickets, and UVSC's scenic designer, Joel Osborne is the scenic painter, bringing it to life. There are about 180 students in this production and for some oi' them, it is their first foray into drama. Lauren Lewis Mac Marelli Oklahoma!
