Ryan Froerer First Lieutenant Ryan Froerer recently returned to his home base at Florida’s U.S. States Air Force installation, Hurlburt Field Air Base, after being deployed with the 319th Special Forces Squadron to Bagram, Afghanistan. Ryan grew up in the Valley and is the son of Bryce and Joan Froerer of Huntsville. He is a 2013 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and earned his pilot wings in 2015 at the pilot training base in Columbus, Mississippi. He currently copilots a special operations U28 reconnaissance and surveillance plane. First Lt. Froerer resides in Navarre, Florida with his wife Sierra and their two beautiful Alaskan Huskies named Echo and Phoenix. His next assignment will take him to Hong Kong for additional Chinese language training. Obituaries Sharon Chard Woods April 15, 1939 ~ April 21, 2017 Sharon Chard Woods passed away from pancreatic cancer. She was born in Ogden, Utah to Clarence Chard and Iris Thompson. Sharon had a younger brother, Jeffrey, Sharon Woods who is deceased. Sharon was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ben Lomond High School. She married her eternal companion Don F. Woods in the Logan LDS Temple. They moved to North Ogden where they lived beneath Ben Lomond’s peak for 60 years. Sharon and Don have five sons: Bret (Bing), Christopher (Christine), Whitt (Julie), Nathan (Michelle), and Adam (Natani). Obituaries Carolyn Frances McCarty Froerer March 17, 1925 ~ April 30, 2017 Carolyn Froerer “Together Again” Carolyn Frances McCarty Froerer joined her beloved Lester Shreeve Froerer on Sunday, April 30, 2017. She will be remembered dearly by her four sons and their wives: Kurt and Becky, Gage and Gloria, Michael and Maren, and Landell and Deana; her grandchildren Christian (Wendy), Meghan (Brad), Lesley (Andrew) Casey, Kelly (Natalie), Ryan (Tonya), Renee, Dan, Logan, Ariel, Beth, and Patrick; and her great-grandchildren Michael, Whitney, Ellie, Killian, Gaige, Sicilee, McCarty, Mason and Carson. Carol was born March 17, 1925, daughter of Frank and Anna Harris McCarty, in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She later moved to Ogden, Utah where she met her future husband, Lester, at a New Year’s Eve dance. She attended Mills College and USC in California. She studied psychology and taught at Dee Elementary. Loyal, intelligent, and charmingly independent, we will remember Carol as a lifelong learner, lover of animals, and devotee of her family. We will remember her special ability to add beauty to the world—whether through a well-tended rose garden, a thoughtfully-chosen gift, or a graciously-hosted get-together. Grandma Carol was a woman ahead of her time and an example of the finest traits her generation had to offer. She was elegant and well-spoken, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; and an active and involved member of her community. We will miss her deeply, remember her fondly, and know that our lives were better for having had her in them. At Carol’s request, no funeral services will be held. Condolences may be sent to the family at <www.aaronsmortuary.com> Ida Nay Dennis November 16, 1922 ~ May 2, 2017 Owner of one of the shortest maiden names this side of China. Hater of facial hair on men. Maker of the best rolls and biscuits, sweet pickles, and fruit cake! Born and raised in “Roundtown” (Circleville). For 50 years, married to and danced with Carl Dennis. They lived in Marysvale and Kaysville (Carl died Connie Hokanson Price October 20, 1930 ~ April 30, 2017 Connie Hokanson Price, 86, passed away April 30, 2017. She was born October 20, 1930 in Ogden, Utah, the third Connie Price child to Archibald Olaf and Adena Leona Stoker Hokanson. Connie attended Ogden City schools, graduating from Ogden High School in 1948, and later from Weber State University in 1986. Connie married the love of her life Glade S. Price at the Logan LDS Temple in 1951. Together they raised a family of seven children—four girls and three boys. Connie worked at various jobs, including bookkeeper for Ogden Egg Company, which her father owned and operated, and as a secretary/receptionist at Lindquist Mortuary in North Ogden. Connie was an active member of the LDS Church throughout her life and served in various positions, including Ward Primary and Young Women’s President, and Stake Relief Society President. Connie and Glade also her granddaughters how to make things. They loved it. Sharon and Don have many great friends and neighbors. They enjoyed taking trips together and taking care of each other’s homes. Thanks to everyone for everything over the years. Sharon loved to teach Relief Society on Sunday at her LDS Ward. Many wonderful get-togethers for the family were held at the church over the years. Sharon was the Manager at House of Fabrics in Ogden for many years, and she loved helping women select items they needed for purchase. Sharon and Don have 5 children, 22 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; she loved them all and molded the entire family into a tight, loving unit. We miss her much. Thanks to the wonderful folks in Hospice and all Sharon’s and Don’s family and friends who made it possible to keep Sharon at home. (Helen), Rodger (Carla), Linda Simmons (Jim), Carolyn Mortenson (Earl Who), Kathy Rigby (Lynn), and Kalynn Hill. Grandma to 21, GG to 41, and Great-Great GG to 26. Ida Nay Dennis was truly one of a kind. To paraphrase her favorite game show host, “Heaven got a good one today.” Family and friends celebrated her life Friday, May 5 at Russon Mortuary in Farmington. Graveside services were held at Richfield City Cemetery Saturday, May 6. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made at America First Credit Union to the Ida Dennis Memorial for her daughter Kathy Rigby, who continues to fight against breast cancer. Surviving are her children Celeste (Ronald) Taylor, Orem, UT; Deborah (Rex) Mumford, Huntsville, UT; Adair (Scott) Macfarlane, Farmington, UT; Gregory (Lynita) Price, Farr West, UT; Sterling (Shellee) Price, Layton, UT; Laura (Craig) Syme, Richmond, KY; Darwin (Suzy) Price, Layton, UT; and foster daughter Sally Clayton, Ogden, UT. Connie had 31 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren, with 3 on the way. Connie is also survived by three siblings, Beth Kendell, Ogden, UT; LouJean Wilson, Eden, UT; and Russell (Doris) Hokanson, Parker, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glade S. Price and sister Beverly Carlson. Connie’s family gives our thanks and gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Inspiration Hospice and Fairfield Village Assisted Living for their loving and tender care of our mother. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the LDS Missionary Fund, Primary Children’s Hospital, or the Hospice Foundation of America.
