You may have noticed lots of little colored flags and spray paint markings along SR166 near Valley Market and, again, just south of 1900 North. That’s us—Weber Pathways— working to install bridges along two new sections of trail. Yoohoo! Weber Pathways’ Pineview Loop Pathway (PLP) project in Ogden Valley just received $125,000 from Weber County RAMP for the one-mile Eden Arm section of trail. This section will run along SR-166 and provide a link between Valley Market and the Eden General Store (Carlos and Harley’s). In addition to creating a loop with the Eden and Parsons Trails, this new section will provide a safe route to school for students attending both Valley Elementary and Snowcrest Junior High. The flags/spray painting near Valley Market are for a bridge to span the irrigation canal there. In the meantime, the PLP Committee of Weber Pathways has been working to build one additional mile on the PLP heading south from where the trail now ends on 1900 West. This mile section has been fully funded by Weber County RAMP, the Utah State NonMotorized Trails program, Weber County, and Weber Pathways. Weber Pathways and the County are working to secure all required permits and to prepare detailed plans for the bridge over the creek in this section. So, the other flags and spray painting are for a bridge along this section. The County is preparing to solicit construc- VOLUNTEERS cont. on page 10 May 15, 2012 Eden poppies. And that can only mean one thing . . . it’s time, once again, for the annual Ogden Valley Charity Garage Sale! Ogden Valley’s 14th Annual Charity Garage Sale will be held Friday, June 29 and Saturday, June 30 at 9520 E. 400 S. in Huntsville at the home of Mike and Cindy Hillstrom. Each year, well over 100 families donate items to the Charity Garage Sale. The proceeds from the event directly benefit local charities: The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah, McKay Dee Labor and Delivery Bereavement Foundation, and other medical causes. The proceeds are donated to these causes in memory of several Ogden-area infants and children who have passed away in the past few years. The leftover items from the garage sale are donated to the YCC, the Ogden Center for families in crisis, the Deseret Industries, and the Salvation Army. Over the past thirteen years, the garage sale has made and donated over $58,500, with $9,700 donated to charitable causes last year alone. For many years the Charity Garage Sale has been able to fully sponsor a Make-A-Wish Foundation child. It currently costs $5,000 to grant a wish for a child. We hope, once again, to be able to fulfill a wish for a local child with a life-threatening illness, plus make another annual contribution to McKay-Dee, and other local charitable causes. The garage sale was started in 1999.
