Whiting One Roosevelt man has been rested, and police say they anticipate at least four other arrests in connection with an alleged fraud ring involving counterfeit Western Union money orders. Police say a series of nine bogus money orders were recently returned to the busi- nesses where they were cashed. The merchants will not be reimbursed by Western Union. Each money was written in the amount of $500. Cpl. Steve Hooley credits store clerks who obtained authentic identification with helping track down the suspects.
