P r h . ceremony scheduled The tenth annual (graduating) ceremony for the Licensed Practical Nursing program from the Uintah Basin Area Vocational Center will be held May 21, 1985 at 7:30 p.m. at the Discovery Elementary School in Vernal. Thirteen candidates will have completed a concentrated course Satellite 6' 6" Square in academic theory end clinical experience. Of these candidates eight are from Vernal, four from Roosevelt, and one is from Neola. The Licensed Practical Nursing program has previously graduated eightyone nurses. Sixty-nin- e percent are still in the Uintah Basin area, and of these, ninety-fivpercent are working full or part time. The new graduates will be needed as eighteen of the present LPNs are in advanced training in the Weber College associate degree program. Tire for the festival have to be Indian artiste or craft persons living on the reservation or Uintah or Duchesne County. The crafts that will be for sale include pottery, ceramics, jewelry and leather works. eliga-bilil- y There will be no charge assessed to tribal members; non tribal members will possibly have a small coal for the rent on the booths, according to Clifford Duncan, planner of the festival. The Academic Scholar Award has been established to recognize students who excel in the academic disciplines. To earn the award, students must earn a 3.3 or better grade point average and be nominated by a qualified instructor or counselor.
