Kerrie Hoopes is the nursing This year, in conjunction with National Nurses Day, May 6, and National Hospital Week, Duchesne County Hospital honored its nursing staff with a luncheon. The nursing staff, including RN's, LPNa, ward clerks, and aides is the hospitals largest employee group with about 80 members. The hospital kitchen under the direction of JoAnn Smith and Hazel Birchell . prepared the luncheon and Pink Ladies, Sara Show, Polly Bland, Carina Robb, . Nebeker and Noreen Roberts helped serve and host. Sara Show made the decorations which featured a bottle of Sanity Control Pills for each nurse. . Prior to the meal. Director of Nurses Carlene Jensen, presented awards to five of her staff chosen by their colleagues to be honored this year. Mabel Wall and Karrie Hoopes were selected as the RN representatives. Mabel' Wan is the assistant Director of Nursing and she supervises the busy obstetrics department.. Previous to coming to the hospital hen, she was a nursing supervisor at inservice supervisor, as well as directing the hospital quality assurance. One of the nurses voting for Hoopes said she allows people to make mistakes and grow without making them feel insignificant. Karrie Hoopes lives in Duchesne. Val Roth of Roosevelt, is the LPN selected for recognition. Roth, who always works in the obstetrical department, is known for her reliability and willingness to work extra shifts. She knows her work so well, according to Director Jensen, that she can work almost independently. Lena Tanner, who resides on the North Myton bench, was aide selected as the nurses weekend Loya : salutes .its Lifeworkers in National Hospital celebrating Week with public service announcements and posters proclaiming the theme. On Tuesday, classes of health 14, May Altamont High School will tour the hospital and leant of the various careers available in health care. ' Joy School to hold graduation Ten groups of Joy. School children will be gathered for a graduation party on Wednesday May 22 at 10 a.m. in the Regional Graduation certificates will be presented and a short activity will follow. Groups from Myton, Ballard, Roosevelt and . even Mountain Home will be involved in .the graduation special festivities. She has for 15 to 20 years at Duchesne County Hospital She was chosen for Her loyally and hard work. Loretta Coleman of Roosevelt, has only worked for six months as a ward clerk. She previously worked in the front office. She is appreciated for her organization and especially her cheerful demeanor in dealing with patients and staff. All five representatives received gifts of lace and ribbon baskets as tokens of appreciation. The entire nuring staff also honored Director Carlene Jensen with embroidered hanging for her new home and a hanging basket of flowers. Hospital Administrator Chad Evans expressed appredaton for the nursing staff and credited them with much of .the good image of the hospital. Besides the nursing staff, Duchesne County Hospital has sixty other employees all dedicated to improving the quality of life for the area. The hospital Vegas. newly-wed- s Adult dance Tuesday night at the Senior Center West of Roosevelt a large crowd gathered at the dance to celebrate Nello Hickens 83rd birthday. Gerald and Dorothy Hicken brought the cake and ice cream and stayed to help celebrate with us. We get new people all the time and our crowd is really growing. Adults all ages come from .Roosevelt, .. Vernal, Duchesne, Tabiona, Altamront and all the (bullying areas.' We miss those of you that haven't been here for awhile so come on back and join us. If 1 youve never been, come out, you'll enjoy dancing to the Basineers. We have light refreshments and organ music' by Thora Caldwell during intermission.
