smelter destroyed an explosion of molten slag caused the total destruction of the val verde smelter twenty miles eat of prescott arizona the smelter employees were engaged in darding slag from the fur nace and were unable to get a plug in to stop it when the molten mass ran onto the wet floor an explosion followed the red hot stuff was scattered all the building causing fire to break out at several places the building and machinery were destroyed so hot were the flames that a portion of the machinery melted
