Show Former resident in ALTAMONT USU productions Mr. Graduate student at Utah State University in theatre, Nels E. Carlson joins the Old Lyric Repertory company for his first summer season. From Roosevelt, Nels is a family man with three children. Nels is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thure Carlson of Roosevelt. Nels is remembered for his particularly hilarious role of the judge in USU Theatre's production of "Brown Pelican. Perhaps few will recognize him without his mask and ringleted white wig, for in real life, Nels looks quite normal. Also to his credit was the role of Caesar Rodney, the eye patched old Congressman in "1776" This summer Nels plays the part of Jackie, the blood and guts gangster, in The Petrified Forest. Also he is the of the setting for "Still The Mountain Wind, the fourth show this season. Tickets may be purchased at the USU ticket office or at the Lyric box office. E. is Committee appointed for state education An eleven member Professional Practices Advisory Commission made up of educators representing different geographical areas of Utah has been appointed by Dr. Walter D. Talbot, State Superintendent of Public Instruction. According to Talbot, the committee will function in an advisory capacity on matters directly related to standards of conduct in the teaching profession. The Commission has the authority to warn or reprimand professional educators for unethical or unprofessional practices. While the Commission serves without pay, the State Board of Education does provide some staff help in the form of a liaison and secretarial support. Dr. Vere McHenry, Administrator of the Division of Instructional Support Services, has been appointed to serve as liaison for the group. The first meeting of the Commission was held this week. At the meeting, a Chairman and Vice Chairman were elected. Deloy J. Spencer, Weber School District, 1 year member, will serve as Chairman of the Commission; Vivian J. Holmes, a appointment from Uintah School District, was elected n. The next meeting of the Commission will take place in August at the State Capitol. Jim and Carol Weeks of Kearns spent the weekend with their parents, the Lawrence Weeks. Visiting with the Bill Whitehead's was Mr. and Mrs. Grant Whitehead. Mrs. Tressa Whitehead, his sister Mrs. Olga Smith, Springville and Bill Whitehead Jr., Salt Lake. Miss J udy Monsen is home for the balance of the summer. Also visiting with her parents, the Grant Monsen's was their son Rowen, Provo. Mrs. Etta Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Nile Smith, Syracuse are spending a few days at their summer home. Mr. and Mrs. LaFarge Dastrup and Machell Perkins, attended funeral services for Mrs. Dastrup's father, Henry Pederson at Ephraim on Tuesday. Visiting with the LaFarge Dastrup's was their son and family the Neal Dastrup's. They came for their daughter Sheralyn after she has spent a few days with her grandparents. Visiting at the Jack Barton home during the week was his parents the Ted Barton's of Fairview. Visiting with the Napier S waseys was their daughter and family the Richard Mar got ts and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Brotherson and family attended the Mormon Pageant Saturday then drove to Grand Junction and to Glenwood Springs to visit with Lorna's ART ANYONE? They are from Salt Lake and Mr. Johnson has employment with the saw mill on Blue Bench. They have three children, Peggy 6, Rusty 4 and Kandi 2. They've moved into the home where Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Hackford use to live. Mrs. Johnson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delmore Ivie. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Cowan arrived Sunday from Cedar City and will be staying till Tuesday. Both their parents, Mr. ami Mrs. Ferris Casper, Roger and Carolee have been attending CSU where they both achieved the honor roll. They only have one more quarter now to complete before Roger graduates. Roger and Russell Cowan celebrated their birthday Sunday. Caffey have moved to Mississippi after Mr. Caffey retired from being with the Bureau of Reclamation for thirty one years. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Poulsen and two of their children, Lori and Todd were in Duchesne Sunday visiting with friends and relatives. The Poulsen's are former residents of Duchesne and now live in Rockland, Ida. They stayed over Sunday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Art Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Poulsen spent Saturday in Orem visiting Mrs. Poulsen's mother and then went on down to Manti to witness the Mormon Pageant. Mrs. Alfhild Josie returned Monday from almost a month in Bergen, Norway, visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Knut Weiberg and other relatives. After having lived away from Norway for twenty two years she said it was quite an experience to go back and visit her homeland. Ralph Hayes left last week to visit with his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hayes in Clammouth Falla, Ore., for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Brent Barfusa visited with friends in Duchesne Sunday. Forty eight family members were in attendance, wit h the exception of Tony Monk and Clair Whitman all the family were in attendance. Thu Lenford Kitchen family of American Fork spent several days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Kitchen. They also enjoyed fishing at Cedarview Reservoir. Thu Wallace Harvey family of Layton were visitors at the Gene Wallace, Farrell Simmons and Jim Harvey homes last week. The Women's softball team received the sportsmanship trophy last week. Margo Roper received the 2nd place halting award and Edna Wallace received the 1st place award for making the most points. Visiting at the Ernest Ahlborn home have been Mr. and Mrs. Burl Rose from Red Bluff, Calif. Those now visiting the Ahlborn home are Mr. and Mrs. Wales Kibbey from Fresno, Calif., and Babbette Marley from Chicago. Lewis Simmons, Clark and Sherrie McKee accompanied the Ashley Stake M. Men and Gleaner class to Manti Friday to attend the Book of Mormon Pageant Saturday. They rode the Heber Creeper and went swimming at Midway. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Merkley left Thursday for a weeks trip to Washington. They plan on visiting the Gene Merkley family at Moses Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mooseman and family from Kassell, Germany left Saturday after spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. James Harvey. Ray, who is in the armed services, has spent the past four years in Germany. The Mooseman's left Saturday for Oregon where they will now be stationed.
