DARLENE MIX Lakeside Review columnist In the spirit of Memorial Day, we honor those who defended our country and gave their lives. And we pay tribute by placing flowers upon their graves and the graves of family members. Memorial Day is a day to recall memories. With fond memories I remember my father, who died several QUANTUM PERM WAVE years ago. He is buried in a cemetery in a small town in the Midwest where I grew up. Voluntarily, he worked countless hours in the city cemetery grooming the graves in preparation for Memorial Day. Memorial Day was always special to him, where he could be found either as a spectator or at the cemetery waiting for the parade to arrive there. They will greet friends and relatives from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clearfield North Stake Center, 151 N. 1000 W. in Clearfield. It is requested that gifts be omitted. Porter was bom June 23, 1909 in Porterville, Utah to Byron and Mary Elizabeth Robinson Porter. Mrs. Porter was born April 22, 1916 in Meadow, Utah to George L. and Iva Swallow Bushnell. The couple were married in the Manti Temple May 24, 1937. Porter is a high priest, and Alaska; Georgia and Rick Tew, Fruit Heights; and Kim Byron has served many positions. They have 26 grandchildren ceased) andJean Duke Porter, and two Base. 1 .v' Engagement Cheryl Holgreen and Scott Giles Mr. and Mrs. Gerald I. and Rosalyn Jones Holgreen of Bountiful have announced the engagement of their daughter, Cheryl Kristine Holgreen,1 to Scott Robert Giles of Milton, Utah. He is the son of Robert E. and Judy Singleton Giles of Milton. The couple has set June 10 as the wedding date. They will be married in the Salt Lake LDS A Vo: Temple. They are planning a garden reception at the Giles residence in Milton that evening. Miss Holgreen graduated from Woods Cross High School where she was in Chatelles Drill Team and Woods Cross Marching Band. She graduated from Woods Cross LDS Seminary, 1982. She is currently a secretary for Richs Hospitality in Salt Lake City and was a dental assistant. Giles attended Weber and Morgan Schools, graduating from Morgan High School in 1980.
