SOUTH WEBER Girl Scout troop 917 of South Weber won second place in the costume test out of 1,100 girl scouts and jeaders trekked to Bacon Memorial park near Roosevelt, Utah for a three-da- y encampment. Arriving by vans, cars, and buses, the Girl Scouts turned the park into a tent city with colorful banners proclaiming their home con- towns. They explored the midway fun at the Country Harvest fair set up with games of skill, displays, and exotic sights. - appears to be just childs play for Kent Whitaker of Kaysville. The two were enjoying a good time at the Layton swimming pool. Ongoing demonstrations in spinning wool, basket weaving and quilting drew large groups of observers and participants. The parade of troops brought forth costumes in keeping with the fair theme. Troops visited the Dinosaur National Monument and Museum of Natural History in the Vernal area. Security was arranged through the Uintah County Sheriffs department and Search and rescue of Vernal. Being in Dinosaur led to a treasure hunt for large green dinosaur eggs and a watermelon bust.
