Schneider, a senior at Taylorsville High School. Since the ninth grade, Mr. Schneider has held a 4 0 grade-poin- t average. His classes are not simple but 'rather they include four advanced placement courses for this year. He has already completed two A1J classes in his junior year. He is also involved in sports and has spent three years on the ice hock ey team. He was was the sophomore class president, has been involved with the junior statesman and is the law club president, He is a member of the math club of Future Business Leaders of America. UUU grant from the George S. and Dolores Dure Keeles Foundation lor the of the Owen D. Mori Jr. collection of African art. The collection, which is a partial gilt of Mr. Mori, is one of the world's most extensive private collections ui Alrican art. The collection originated with Mr. Mort, a Californian who spent nine years working in Zaire as a consulting hydroelectric engineer. The installation of high tension lines took Mr. Mori into the heart of Zaire and it was there lie was intrigued by the highly stylized objects that the various tribes such as the Kuba, Iende and the Yaka were ' using in their daily lives. Now that the collection has been secured for the museum, research and documentation has ' begun in preparation for a major exhibition of the collection, scheduled for 1987, and for which a complete catalogue will be produced. The total value of the collection is over $1.3 million and consists of nearly 1,500 ritual objects including masks, furniture, utensils, money, weapons, sculpture, musical instruments, royal costumes, jewelry and many kinds of weavings, Patricia Darisli, Ph D., of the University of Indiana, said Mr. Mori's collection is the most complete collection of African art fiom the of Zaire in the United Stales. It is the only significant collection of African art between the Mississippi River and California. The collection constitutes a major artistic and educational resource for Utah.
