You are my only link to sanity. I am 26, married to a wonderful man, and we have a darling son. To look at me, youd think I was the happiest person alive, down I but deep am tor- tured by something that happened 21 years ago. I can remember it as though it was yesterday. My brother abused me sexually when I was 5. I dont know how long it went on, but I recall I was in kindergarten when he started. After a while, he stopped. I convinced myself that it didnt happen that I had dreamed it or a friend had told me it hap- - pened to her. When I was 11, my brother tried it again. By that time, I knew it was wrong and warned him to stay away from me. Everything that happened when I was 5, came back to me. I could no longer block it out. When I was 15, I got mad at my brother for something totally unrelated and we got into a shouting match in front of my mother. I blurted out all the terrible things he had done to me when I was a child. He called me crazy." My mother said I was lying and if she ever heard me talk like that again, she would have nothing more to do with me. I had all these conflicting emotions anger, guilt, fear of losing my mothers love and resentment because she believed my brother and not me. For weeks I am OK, then suddenly I remember the past and get headaches, cant sleep and hate for my husband to touch me. I realize it isnt fair to him, so I give in. Because her time away from work is limited, she shops with the idea of accomplishing a lot" in a single afternoon. She said her favorite store is in New York Its small, located on Madison Ave. in the 60s and called Arthurs. She said she was looking at a bill in front of her, from her last visit to the store It was $6,000. Spend a Lot "I spend a lot when I shop. I have been known to buy an entire wardrobe for the coming season in just an afternoon at the store. They know me. Know what I like and I sit down in the living-rooatmosphere there and they just bring me clothes they think I might like to have. "The store shops the European market so I feel good about buying clothes that I wont be seeing every- where. She has a Perry Ellis suit that she likes a lot. She belts the jacket, unlike how he showed it, worn loose and boxy. She has a Georgio Armani coat that she figures will never go out of style. I require a lot of clothes to suit the four to five categories for which I must dress. Besides work clothes, I require dressy clothes, ultimate dressy clothes, casual clothes, and, for our home in Hawaii, beach and resort wear. I spend from $12,000 to $15,000 a year on clothing" She also has a favorite store for jewelry. This store is in the San fashion enthusiast, Michele J. Hughes, is panelist for Glamour magazine, ZCMIs success seminar. A Francisco area and specializes in antique jewelry. "My taste in jewelry follows my taste in clothing. The pieces I buy and wear are simple, but the real thing. I like antique gold. Ms. Hughes is 38, married to an attorney, who is a partner in a in San Francisco. She said she has known him since she was 14. The two have been married for 16 years. They have no children. In her 10 years in the executive search field, she is seeing a definite law-offic- swing toward women becoming less conspicuous in turning up as possible candidates for executive positions. "The minimum salary that we would become involved with is $55,000 and $90,000 would be closer to average. A search for executives in this salary range as few as five years ago might occasionally find a woman who would be qualified. Its exciting to me to find more and more women turning up in this category, she said. would rather die than tell my husband why I am seeking help. Please hurry some advice.
