I should know, for as my granddaughter says, I recently had a that many numbers? birthday. How best to spend this energy? It ering. But, al- though toes are cramped, ankles stiff, knees ache and old back, shoul- ders and neck are rigid, just muster the energy to make your way to the kitchen. Coffee starts the heart! Launch a new career and stay out of the nursing home. Spend your energy remembering youth is a state of mind and not a time of life. Maintain enthusiasm and ignore fear and depression. So, all you guys and gals, lets not waste energy on pessimism. Lets hang in there and keep alive our generations message of beauty, love and courage. Lets look forward to tomorrow. Measure the energy exerted just to bathe, take proper care of your skin, pat and stretch the neck muscles. Take a steam bath, hot oil treatment, apply lotion, powder and perfume, devise every means to keep the makeup soft and subtle it all takes energy. Imagine Energy Imagine the energy required for a senior citizen to adhere to a daily to do push-ups- ? exercise program Yoga? Jog? You fear the spa because cellulite bulges may appal someone. So you take to the old bike. Whew! A half hour is a long time! But keep pumping think thin and keep the old cardiovascular system intact. Then spend more energy to count calories and push the food away. Aches? Pains? Illness real or imagined9 That is a true waste of energy. Just remember which pill to take when and use your energy combating those caps. It takes energy and courage to smile when you have struggled with arthritic fingers to cut vegetables for soup filled with every nutrient you can remember soup to enhance the growth and development of your young grandson. He looks at it, then calmly asks, Gee, when are we going to have the Campbell's child-resista- kind? You can be sure it takes effort to be Miss Congeniality of the bridge club poise when you are reaching for the last peanut in the dish and vowing never to eat another one.
