Just Pin Murray's Baseball Brothers Title on Sundance Coach Play Familiar 'Name Game' I By Patti Auer Tribune Staff Writer MURRAY — Murray High School has been successful in baseball because top players such as Chapman Beck Bolingbroke Forrest Lewis and Mackey suit up year after year You could say that Spartan baseball is a family affair The Spartans winners of five region titles in the past eight years have continually relied on brothers to enhance the program This year there are several brothers of former top players in uniform for the Spartans :Following an older sibling isn't easy for the players But it's a bonus fôr the program says Murray Coach Bill Seibenberg 't!They've all played well" he said They're it a situation where they y'oect to win because they've ' watched the games for so long They alWays think we are the team to beat 14"hard to coach siblings because eyery player is different But they all colne with the idea they should win And some come in hoping to do even better than their brother" Brothers? : At first base for Murray is senior Doug Chapman University of Utah basketball fans know Doug's older brother Keith Many also know the oldest Champan Steve All of the Chapmans are outstanding baseball and basketball players Murray is known for its strong pitching this year One reason is Chad Forrest He follows older brothers Clint and Bart There are also the Winget brothers — Cheyenne Cody and Carson Cheyenne plays for Dixie College while the oth Silverado Shoot Is Target Of Enthusiasts For those who enjoy the Old West and shooting black-powdfirearms the first annual Silverado Shoot is the place to be this weekend The shoot which will be held in Skull Valley west of Tooele will feature black powder shooting competitions in both rifle and shotgun and will even feature a black powder cannon shootoff Saturday evening Most participants in the two-da- y event will be attired in buckskins or mountain man outfits of the 1840sand there will even be a few diehards setting up teepees always used to just plink around for fun" said Mont Bone one of the shoots organizers and a black-powdshooter for the past 15 years "We had a similar shoot last year but this year we're having it open to those who want to come out and shoot black powder weapons" The event begins Saturday morning at 8 am and will continue throughout the day with participants competing in 10 shoots with ranges from 25 to 100 yards Prizes will be a one ounce awarded in each shoot silver coin hence the Silverado Shoot At 5 pm the cannon shoot will begin with participants firing lead balls up to a pound each at a target 300 or 400 yards away Silver coins will be awarded to the winners in this :category as well Sunday will feature a shoot for prizes other than coins and will also have the shotgun event That will last until noon when most people will head home There is a $10 a day shooting fee but that allows participants to compete in each event Mr Bone said To find the shoot head west on Interstate 80 to the Dugway exit then head south for 12 miles to the Delle Ranch Turn left at the ranch and the shoot will be on BLM land Signs are posted to direct interested Special to The Tribune CLEARFIELD — A course on lowering your fat thermostat begin May 24 and 26 Six classes of "Eat Your Way Lean" will be offered by TIP Inc a local firm specializing in weight loss Classes will be offered Tuesdays at 4:30 5:30 and 6:30 pm and Thursdays at 5:30 6:30 and 7:30 pm Each class is one hour and will be held at North Davis Junior High 835 S State Room 112 Participants must register before this Sunday Cost is $60 for the first family member and $50 for any additional family member Participants will get a $20 refund at the end of the course for perfect attendance and turning in food sheets Registration is $70 after the nine-wee- t Si -
