Show The Salt Lake Tribune p Wednesday May 11 1828 B3 Teachers Pie dged$l to §e e Video Says Expelled Student " By Stephen Hunt Tribune Staff Writer COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS - A Brighton School student permanently suspended from school High for his part in allegedly sexually accosting a school-hal- l monitor and making a video movie of the event says more than 100 students and at least two faculty members knew the incident wa3 going to take place ' The student says 107 students and two faculty members pledged $1 each so they could view the video movie ' Meanwhile Brighton High students are reportedly rallying in support of the three expelled students by making posters and wearing tags protesting the "criminal" treatment of the three The students — two seniors and one junior all state wrestling champions — were suspended after one boy grabbed a male hall monitor in his 50s from behind simulated a sexual act then grabbed the man's genitals sheriffs officers reported A second student filmed the incident with a video camera while others watched including a third student suspended for allegedly helping plan the incident sheriffs officers said But during an interview with the Tribune Tuesday one of the suspended students — an Eagle Scout and state wrestling champion in his weight class — said the incident was meant only as an innocent joke "We were even going to put it in the school Video Year Book" the student said "You could watch that video for family home evening" The student who grabbed the hall monitor had performed a similar simulated sexual act with the monitor on a previous occasion At that time the man laughed it off the youth told the Tribune "We thought he would take it as a joke again" he said The student denied the hall monitor's genitals were touched Following the first incident the hall monitor reportedly County Planners Delay Issuing Permits for xpansion at Hercules By Jack Fenton Tribune Staff Writer Hercules went to the Salt Lake County Planning Commission Tuesday morning hoping to win approval for a $150 million expansion at Bacchus West Ground was scheduled to be broken later in the day To meet deadlines construction was to be underway next month But instead of getting permits Hercules directors answered technical questions for 90 minutes and were told to prepare for more during a special planning commission meeting May 17 It has been two months since Hercules asked for permits to expand to ibuild motors for the Delta II and n IV But the county demanded more information Planners hope !next week's 7 pm session at the county government center 2001 South State will answer those quesTi-ta- tions "We're thinking about public safety personal safety vs economic viability" declared James W Smith planning commission member from Magna !
