I dont believe in fancy party dresses and the farthest I would go is an organdy dress with a little trim. I like linens, broadcloths and other simple fabrics in preference to the overdone varieties. Its most important, of course, for your little girl to feel properly dressed at a party and shell generally feel better understated than overdressed. One sweet touch would be little colored slippers, perhaps bright red or pastel. And please omit the I think a little girl looks best quite natural. Watch out for little girls pocketbooks so many are just cardboard glued together and covered with fake flowers. A small black patent or Lid bag is generally the best selection because it goes with most of her dressy clothes. I prefer white stretch socks on small girls. Nothing is more annoying than to end up with a pink dress and only a pair of green socks and one red sock in the drawer. Of course, you may want high knee socks for winter, and I think its wise to get these all alike too, to avoid that scramble for a pair that matches. As for hats, beware of the miniature grown-uhat, especially when its covered with cheap little flowers. Keep your little girls hats simple and becoming, not something perched on the top of her head. My preference is a Breton with streamers down the back. no cutouts or fancy Keep her shoes simple too trims. Black patents or brown oxfords, and white shoes only on the littlest ones.
