Words such as, awesome, incredible, and magnificent, seem shallow when describing one of the seven wonders of the world. The Parkway traverses the 1500 square mile North Kaibab National Forest-Gran- d Canyon National Game Preserve. Travelers drive through the gentle green forests which rise dramatically to 9,000 feet in elevation. The Kaibab, which the Paiute Indians called the mountain lying down changes from life zones of Sonoran desert at one extreme, to the frosty e climate of the zone nearer the canyon. The dense pine forest of the high Kaibab Plateau ends abruptly at the sub-alpin- But many words have been written about the wonders of the Grand Canyon. The National Park certainly doesn't have a name recognition problem! The Canyons South Rim is literally over-ruwith visitors. Large crowds and traffic jams are the norm. But the best-kesecret of the Grand Canyon experience isn't discovered by visiting the arid South Rim anyway. Grand Canyon North Rim is a visitors dream come true. It has the same incredible views, improved canyons edge. Pleasant temperatures are common for a summers visit to the North Rim, but a light jacket might be good to take along on n your trip.
