By Harry Barber It is Spring time and Kanab is preparing for another host of events, not the least of which is the 10 kilometer (6.2 miles) run fun and the walk. Both events will be on May 13, Mothers Day weekend. Want to know what she wants for Mothers Day? She wants you out of bed and getting in shape! This wall be the 13th running of the 10K event. The history of the race has been a little bumpy. There was a year or two the run had to be canceled andor course changes were necessary to accommodate city and county road and highway regulations. Many individuals have come together to try to make the race a fun event for the participants, as well as a method to bring people to our beautiful city and perhaps hang around a little while. After all, for runners the race offers almost no equal. The run begins in Kanab Canyon near Moqui Cave and ends at the Kanab Elementary non-competiti- ve School. In between these two points lies some of the most spectacular scenery in the county, where runners and walkers get a good dose of the red walled canyons that draw so many people here each summer. While the runners and walkers are passing vermilion colored cliffs and Navajo sandstone, their families can be taking a look at Kanab as they wait in the downtown area for the runners to come in. If you are thinking about participating in either the running or walking events, dont forget about the pasta dinner to be held Friday night the evening before the runwalk. Everyone is invited to participate in the dinner. For more information on the runwalk, dinner or anything else related to these call Shilo 2 or check Inn at (435) out the web site at www.kaneutah.com If you dont plan on running or walking, just come out and have a good time watching the runnerswalkers! for third place.
