By Kent Mason 5th & 6th Grades Spurs 44, Bulls 17 The Spurs led 6 to 1 after one quarter of play and never looked outscoring the pacers 10 to 1 8 to win by the 16 point margin. The Bulls were led by Kim Lathim with 16 points, Ryan Christensen picked up 8, and for back on their way to the victory. the Pacers Kenn Carman hit for Seven members of the Spurs 4 points, Bandy Allen and Gary team scored with Logan Button Carman each had 2. leading with 18, Tyrell Crofts chipped in 10, Cody McKinney 6, Dusty Mackelprang 4, Quade Johnson, Ryan Yellowhair and Albert Wendling each got 2. Trever Lathim and Kacey each got 6 for the Bulls, also 2 for Brandon Hancock, and 3 for Cash Jessop. Spurs 53, Bulls 16 The Spurs started slow and trailed 10 to 6 after one quarter of play. From there on it was all Spurs as they outscored the Bulls 47 to 6 through the final three quarters to roll to the easy win. For the Spurs Tyrell Crofts poured in 18, Logan Button 11, Wyatt Kimball 10 and Quade Johnson 6. Kacey Simmons led the Bulls with 8, Trever Lathim hit for 6, and Biye Mackelprang got 2. Bulls 28, Jazz 26 Win or lose the Jazz still hold the record for being involved in the most close games. In this game the Jazz led 26 to 18 going into fourth quarter. The Jazz did not score in that final period while the Bulls scored ten points to come from behind for the win. Austin Dial led the Bulls with 10, Brandon Hancock added 6, Kacey Simmons also had 6, Trever Lathim 4 and Cash Jessop 2. For the Jazz Zach Christensen piled up 12 points, Eli Kirby 8 and Aaron Lacorti 6. 3rd & 4th Grades Bulls 24, Pacers 8 The Pacers failed to score in the first half. The Bulls rang up 14 points in the first quarter, then did not score in the second period. Half time score 14 to 0 for the Bulls. The second half was a little closer with the Bulls Bulls 30, Pacers This was a much closer game, it was 10 to 8 Bulls after one quarter. The Bulls led 14 to 8 at halftime then kept pulling away to win by the score of 30 to 16. For the Bulls Cody Dial hit for 14 points, Michael Stanford added 8 and two players Ryan Christensen and Jeromy Tait each had 4, and Dustin Johnson got 2. For the Pacers only three players scored, Bandy Allen racked up 8 while Kenn Carman and Derick Johnson each got 4. Bulls (3 I A 18, Lakers overtimes) 16 The Bulls won their third game in a row and handed the Lakers their first defeat of the year, but it wasnt without a struggle. In the low scoring contest the Lakers led 4 to 2 after one quarter and 12 to 8 at halftime. After three quarters the Lakers were clinging to a two point lead 14 to 12. The Lakers failed to score in the 4th quarter while the Bulls scored one bucket to sent it into overtime tied at 14 all. In the first overtime each team scored a basket to sent it into the second overtime. In the second overtime neither team scored, so we go to a third overtime with the score tied at 16 all and with a tired bunch of boys. In the third overtime the Bulls managed to hit one basket two win by the two point margin 18 to 16. For the Bulls Kim Lathim hit for 8 points Cody Dial added 4 and three players Jesses Johnson, Jeromy Tait and Ryan Christensen each had two. For the Lakers Myron Hammon collected 6, Michael Tait and Chad Mackelprang each got four and The Kanab Middle School Cowboys won the Panguitch Basketball Tournament recently. KMS 8th graders win Panguitch tourney The Kanab Middle School 8th grade basketball team traveled to Panguitch on March 26 and 27th to compete in the annual 8th grade tournament. The Cowboy team started the tourney out strong as they met up with the Panguitch 2 team, easily putting them away Everyone on the team scored, led by Colt Niemann with 16, Steven Gilberg with 13, and Mace Glazier with 10. Advancing to the semi-finround on Saturday, the Cowboys came-uagainst a tough Piute team. Kanab held on for a 74-1- 5. al p 9, 3. full-cou- rt gold. Earlier in the day, they had the basketball Olympics, with the Cowboys bringing home some serious trophies. Colt Niemann placed first in the speed dribble. Josh Ramsay got second in the 3- point shoot. Blake Doss placed second in the reaction drill. The team of Colt Niemann, Steven Gilberg and Mace Glazier won the Jerry West drill hands down. Congratulations 8th graders on a great tournament. The home town crowd was treated to a first quarter lead of 12-and a 24-2- 2 halftime cushion.
