Show Utah Highway Patrol tsT; 5YC'1 During the period from August 16 through August 22, 2003, the Utah Highway Patrol District C (Kanab) Troopers stopped 71 vehicles, issued1 101 citationswarnings, investigated four accidents, had 11 agency assists and 13 public assists. We also handled six drug arrests, as well as two D.U.I. arrests, and one other alcohol related arrest. 03 other items after a traffic stop on S.R. 89 at mile 56. After stopping Robert Oliver, the reporting officer noticed items in the vehicle, and the subjects demeanor led him to believe that illegal items were possibly inside the vehicle. A search was conducted that confirmed this. A passenger in the vehicle, Guillermo Gallardo, also ofTucson, was also arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. The driver (Oliver) performed a D.R.E. (drug recognition exam) which led the officer to believe the subject was impaired. Stop made at 11:10 Traffic Accident. Car versus deer. The driver of the Cavalier was seatbelted and though taken to the hospital, survived with only bruises and abrasions!! The driver of the semi was also seatbelted and walked away uninjured! A 1998 Toyota Landcruiser was parked at a restaurant along S.R. 12 when another vehicle traveling through the area lost a rear tire.
