With only four ingredients in the parfait, even youngsters can make this delicious, cool dessert. The following recipes are foolproof, and the results are irresistible. Pretty to look at and delicious to taste, parfaits are a dessert for every member of the family. They have a satisfying flavor that belies their light, airy texture and ease or preparation. ( nlv four ingredients are needed for this parfait. Chances are you have them on hand orange juice from Flroida, unflavored gelatin, sugar, and heavy cream. A few minutes of assembly, three hours to chill, and voila! A heavenly dessert with the fresh flavor of Florida oranges is ready to perk up the tastebuds. There are a variety of ways to serve the elegant result of your labor. Pile it into a large glass bowl and spoon helpings into individual dishes as desired. Present it in parfait glasses and decorate it with whatever is handy. Or, for an extra special touch, mound the creamy mixture in crisp mere edibles look fresh and attractive on the ingue shells. These table and add a nice contrast in color and texture to the parfait filling. If you have a youngster learning to cook, start with this simple dessert it can't fail! And enjoy it all year long. easy-to-mak- ORANGE PARFAIT cup sugar envelope unflavored gelatin 2 cups Florida orange juice, divided 1 cup heavy cream, whipped In medium saucepan combine sugar and gelatin. Add 1 cup orange juice; stir over medium heat until sugar and gelatin are dissolved, about 4 . minutes. Remove from heat; stir in remaining 1 cup orange juice. Chill until mixture is consistency of unbeaten egg white. Fold in heavy cream. Spoon into Meringue Shells or individual dessert dishes. Yield: 6 servings. 3 1 MERINGUE SHELLS egg whites tsp. cream of tartar U8 tsp. salt :,4 cup sugar Beat egg whites until foamy; add cream of tartar and salt; beat until stiff but not dry. Add the sugar gradually, beating until very stiff. Cover baking sheet with aluminum foil or heavy brown paper. Pile meringue into 6 rounds about 3 inches in diameter. Make a depression in the 3 center. Bake in a 275 degree oven 1 hour. Yield 6 meringues. Several family member were guests for the weekend at the home of Dave and Marilyn Smith. Among those coming were Marilyns parents, Jack and Doris Gidney from Grand Junction and John and Terri Lyn Gidney and family, also of Grand Junction; Daves sister and brother-in-laLyle and Anita Owens and family of Provo. Tina Harrison received word of the death of her grandfather, Hans Brinkman, on Aug. 20. He lived in West Germany. Visiting this past week with La Veil and Laura Simmons and Dee and Estel Kidd and sons and other relatives and friends was Grace Gregg of Vermillion, S.D. Grace is a former resident of this area. Lee and Marilyn Broadbent and son, Anthony, of Holden, Utah spent the holiday weekend here with their parents, Glen and Toni Reynolds. Bruce and Annette Oldaker and daughter of Provo and Jim Oldaker from Rexburg, Idaho spent the long weekend here with their parents, Carl and Shirley Oldaker. Denise and Blaine Hunting have a new baby boy weighing 9 lbs. 1 oz. born Saturday morning at the Ashley Valley Medical Center. Carl and Beverly Winters and family came from Paonia, Colo., to spend the holiday weekend with Alta and Gene Weeks. Dave and Karen Cook spent the weekend here with Norman and Jan Haslem and Alan and Shari Calder and family. They returned to Orem, Monday evening. Also visiting with the Haslems Saturday night and Sunday were Ken and Caryl Ann Seastrand and son of Provo. On Sunday, Norman and Janna served dinner to their family. Those attending were Mike and Connie Haslem and family, Ken and Caryl Ann Seastrand and non, Alan and Shari Calder and children, Dave and Karen Cook and Brad Haslem. Brenda Olsen entertained 12 little guests last Monday honoring her daughter, Diane, on her third birthday. The group played games and enjoyed party treats. Yvonne Harrison accompanied her brother-in-laTrevier Harrison, to Escondido, Calif., last week. She returned home Thursday evening. Dinner guests Sunday evening at the Dan and Brenda olsen home were Kimo and Marsha Paio and family of Provo. Brenda and Marsha are sisters.
