Show Wednesday, June 23, scoreboard WBBA reps to meet in Price on Saturday Representatives Boys Western of the 13 Baseball Association leagues in Carbon, Emery and Duchesne Counties will meet Saturday afternoon at the Crest Cafe in Price at 3 p.m. to plan for 1982 tournament play for Region B of WBBA. Robert (Bob) Fieldsted, Altamont, president of WBBA, will be in attendance at the meeting to assist Walter Borla, regional manager, in setting up the 1982 Region B tournament schedule. Sites for three district first round tournaments will be determined at the meeting and a drawing will set up the first round of games scheduled to begin on July 19. All- - star tournament play in WBBA runs three straight weeks, beginning with district meets on July 19, the regional tournament HELPER The annual Helper sale, one of the fund raising projects for the major WBBA league, is scheduled for Saturday morning at Veltri Drug on Main Street. League president Keith Reid said the sale is under the direction of Mrs. Sharon Bryan with help from several other mothers or participants in the league. Players on the league teams have been busy the past ten days selling tickets for the sale, eight or Budweiser Kaiser 28 W L beginning on July 26 and finishing with the little world series of WBBA in Idaho Falls, Ida. on August Leagues in the three county area should be represented at Saturdays meeting at the Crest by the league president or designated representative. Players will be on the streets throughout the morning in their baseball uniforms pushing the sale of the baked items or tickets on the cakes. The sale begins at 9 a.m. and continues until 12 noon. The Board of Big Game Control has approved 16,585 antlerless deer control permits, about 1,500 more than last year, for the fall hunting seasons. Most of the increase comes in several new areas in southcentral Utah, where deer herds have been increasing in recent years. Only isolated areas in northern Utah suffered severe deer winter losses. The Board of Big Game Control set all 1982 big game seasons on June 12 after a series of public meetings June 4 through June 11. A total of 1,685 preseason deer control permits are being offered on 10 hunting areas; 10,150 are being offered on 30 areas season during the general statewide October 23 through November 2; and 4,750 postseason permits are being offered on 14 hunts. The archery deer season is August 21 through September 6. Persons buying archery permits are not eligible to apply for a deer control permit, since the tag on the archery license allows the taking of a second buck deer. Two bucks may be taken during the archery season, or one buck during the archery season and one buck during the season. general deer season or muzzle-loadhunt will be held The muzzle-loadNovember 6 through November 14. A person harvesting a buck deer on his big game license tag will not be allowed to participate hunt. Permits must be in the muzzle-loadto the opening of the general purchased prior deer season on October 23. Hunters planning hunt may to participate in the muzzle-loadapply for. a deer control permit if they do not purchase an archery permit. For the first time, control permits are valid during the muzzle-loadseason for the area specified on the permit. The general deer season, deer archery and seasons will be held deer muzzle-loadstatewide in 1982, except for three closed areas in southern Utah also closed during the past two years. These are Herd Units 31B Ridge), 60 (Paunsaugunt (San Juan-El- k (Dixie-EaPine Valley). portion) and61A The open area bull elk season is September 29 through October 12. Restricted elk permits are being offered in 29 areas, including 395 bull permits, 540 hunters choice permits and 590 antlerless permits. Fifty of the restricted elk permits are for a bugling elk hunt September 1 on the Uinta North Slope and Creek units. The archery Bear River-Chal- k elk season coincides with the archery deer season August 21 through September 6. Persons purchasing archery elk permits by July 30 will be included in a drawing for 150 hunters choice elk archery permits. The antelope season, September 25 through October 3, begins three weeks later that it has in past years. A total of 395 resident buck permits and 38 nonresident buck permits are being offered on 13 units during the regular season. Forty resident doe permits and 4 nonresident doe permits will be available for the Snowville area during two October hunts. Niifcty-eigh- t resident bull moose permits and eight nonresident bull moose permits are being offered during the moose seasons, No 6 and November September on offered are antlerless moose permits being the Uinta North Slope as in previous years. A recent study indicates the Uinta North Slope can support a larger moose population than originally thought, so the herd will be allowed to build. Units where moose permits are being offered are the Uinta North Slope, Ogden River, Daggett, Chalk Creek, Morgan-Sout- h Rich and a new area, the Uinta South Slope.
