Show gitpoein Sun Advocate rw 13A Wednesday, June S3, 1982 City officials add $78,000 to new budget - GREEN RIVER With all the budget cutting going on in city, state and federal governments, this city was fortunate enough to add $78,000 more to the 1982-8budget. According to Councilman Blaine Evans, the budget has been increased to $271,110. He said they were able to increase the budget without increasing the mill levy. The levy now is 16 mills for the regular fund and 5 mills for the sinking fund. The sinking fund is designed to absorb the costs of bonds for the sewer and water plants. The majority of the increase went toward the roads department and to airport construction, according to Evans. 3 v 'uy t ll y ; vK ... , J , ' 1 ?w. 0, V 5 ' r , . . .. ; ' V f,4- s. v' v, V: . , v , , . Evans said the city has experienced a good tourist season and can thank that for a lot of the increase. I think were pretty lucky that we had a surplus, he said. The increase is mostly from sales tax money. I hope the tourist industry continues so well. Its our life-blood since the mines have closed. Currently, the city is in the process of building a Travel Council building in hopes of keeping tourism at a steady rate. ?T'Www - Vacation Specials Picnic in the park The Green River Women's Club in conjunction with the Beta Zeta Sorority and tormer members of the Women's Junior League combined efforts to raise $4,500 to help build this covered picnic area that was recently completed in the Green Large Selection River City Park.
