Bill Robbs doubled in the first Cyprus run in the top of the first then four more crossed the plate in the second off singles by Dea and Quintana, doubles by Meyer and Robbs and an error. Four more were added in the third as Mike Nunley, Dea and Quintana singled, Hathaway doubled, Meyer reached on an errqr and Robbs ground out. In a five-rufifth, Lohmeyer singled, Travis Bailey doubled in a run, Nunely lashed out a two run single, Dea added a basehit and Quintana and Hathawy both hit rbi singles. An error, a walk, another error and a passed ball brought in Cottonwood's first run in the bottom of the opening frame then singles by Bobby Mathewson and Kenny Jewell accounted for another run in the third. Cottonwood finished with three runs in the fourth as John Harris doubled, Steve Sato hit into a fielder's choice and Bob Heim reached on an error scoring two runs. Should Granite, for instance, finish 13th in the final league standings, it would mean that the team finishing 15th would move up a notch into 14th place for the purpose of standings. If Granite finished 15th in the final league standings then the first 14 teams will be counted as they stand. The winner of game eight will be the first place winner of the round robin while the loser of this game will win second place. Plans for the Valley League Round Robin Tournament for the final berths in the State American Legion tournament, set to begin on August 8, were released this week by A1 Poland, Valley League Secretary. According to the release, teams 11 through 14 in the standings will begin the tournament with 11 meeting 14 at West Jordan high school field at 3 p.m. on Saturday August 1st. The 12th place team will meet the 13th place team at Winski Park the same day at 5 p.m. The winner of the 3 o'clock game will meet the number 10 team at West Jordan at 5:30 and the winner of the 5 p.m. game at Winski will then play the number nine team at Winski at 7:30p.m. Winners of these first four game playoffs will then play on Monday at West Jordan against the number seven team at 11 p.m. and against the number eight team at 1:30. The winners of these two games will play the same day at South Ridge at 7:30 while the losers of games five and six will play at South Ridge at 5 p.m. Granger opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second, but Alta fought back with two in the bottom half of the inning.
