West Jordan, which lost only to Taylorsville during the regular season, lost only to Taylorsville in the tournament - twice. West Jordan took a 0 lead in the first inning of the title contest, but when Taylorsville scored four in the second and three more in the third, it was all but over. West Jordan compounded its problems with six er 2-- rors. S. Peterson had a double and Quinn a triple among Taylorsvilles six hits. Quinn picked up the mound win. Brad complete-gam- e Wood won the most valuable player award and Nash was named coach of the year. Hillcrest claimed third place and Viewont fourth. In Fridays action Hillcrest nipped Viewmont fighting from behind and then holding off a Viewmont rally. However, Hillcrest did not fare as well against West Jordan, which captured a 4 win. Legion Tourney To Begin On Saturday MURRAY. State American Legion tournament action will get under way Saturday at Ken Price Field in Murray and Winski Field in Kearns. At press time, pairings were uncertain because of a game yet to be completed between Bingham and Taylorsville that will affect the third, fourth and fifth places (Taylosville, Bingham and Brighton in some order) in the Valley League, and three Valley League teams West Jordan and East involved in playoffs for final spots in the tourney. Those games were all played last night (Wednesday) after press time. Action will begin at 11 a.m. at both locations. At Ken Price Orem will test Holladay. That will be followed at 2 by Bountiful meeting Bingham, Brighton or Taylorsville (Valley League fourth). At 5 p.m. Granger or Roosevelt will play Kearns and at 8 Granite takes to the field against Viewmont. At Winski Field in Southridge Park Roy is slated to meet Tooele at 11. East or Provo will play Valley League regular season champ Alta at 2.
