County Commissioner Mike Stewart is scheduled to lead discus-- . sion on that matter during a session starting at 3:30 p.m. today in the South Salt Lake council chambers. Among other matters on the agenda are environmental health inspection and surveillance; property identification guidelines, recreational easement ordinances along the Provo-Jorda- n River Parkway, Central Utah Project and a flood control update. It was uncertain whether another item would remain on the agenda. It involves a portion of the 1979 annexation law pertaining to areas within a half mile of municipalities. Questions about how that law was being adhered to had arisen in matters both Murray and West Valley City had encountered with the county. Taxpayers Assn. Magna 262-668- SOUTH SALT LAKE. LETTERS (From Page5A, Col. 3) The municipal tax is not another layer of government and should pose no threat to Kennecott. It simply pays what it would pay to the county, to Magna City. Between now and election day you will be subjected to a tremendous amount of outside pressures. You need to check the motives of those who are trying to persuade you to vote against it. Is it for their benefit or yours? Magna, Utah - MAGNA (From Page 5A, Col. 5) county puts everything on the east side and we get whats left over -and I dont believe It. Yes and no. Clark: I dont think so. No. Reese: I think it would be. I dont know any other way we can accomplish pride in our community. Its going to hurt for a while, but in the long run, well be better off. To the editor, am a believer in efficiency in government with economy through simplicity. I think that a county the size of Salt Lake County, situated as it is with a large portion of the states population within its boundaries is a candidate for a single government which would bring such economy and efficiency. There are some who believe in the concept of wall to wallcities in the county. We have such a group in our area who would insist that we become one of these cities. They would even drag into the city a community that does not want to become a part of this city. They have petitioned and caused an election to be held May 8th, and yet some of these who are asking us to incorporate have not chosen to live in our town. are telling us These that we should trust them to give us what we want and need. They say trust us and follow us, and we will give you a new, better, and cheaper I way of life. They tell us they have spent two years gathering the figures to prove their allegations, but we will get them over the weekend before the election when it is too late to do anything if they prove to be made-- , quate, and I certainly believe they will be made to look attractive.
