Lnkt'xitlf H . lYltruui) 12. 19111 4 Students From Davis in Cooperative Study Ej"" v A total of 92 Utah residents including four from Davis County, are studying in four professional fields in other states this school year through a cooperative interstate program that expands educational opportunities beyond state boundaries and across a region. Through the Student Exchange Program of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE), the students pay resident tuition at public d institutions or about the normal tuition at of Utah then makes a state schools. The private payment to the receiving school on behalf of the student. . This year, Utah is assisting 49 students in veterinary medicine studies, 19 in optometry, 17 in dentistry, and 7 in podiatry. These students are enrolled in professional programs in California, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. So far, 162 Utah students have graduated as exchange students since WICHE was founded in 1953 to assist the 13 western states to improve higher education opportunities through interstate sharing of programs and resources.
