| Show WASATCH STAKE conference the quarterly conference of the wasatch stake of gotzion zion convened in the th stake house heber oct 29 and go 80 1892 saturday 1030 a m there othere present on the stand apostle lyra lyman president hatch and counselors mem bers of the high council Oo bishop of the various wards and counselors counse lorr patriarch thomas hicken and others other in the afternoon we had bad the pleasure oi of having president joseph joaeph E taylor and elder charles wilcken of salt bait ow lake city conference was called to order by president deat hatch who made a few remarks saying he had nothing tc to report but peace and prosperity lu in thi this stake elder joseph lambert a late missionary sion sio nary arys made some good remarks on the studies and obliga obligations tiona of the saints sainte pre existence of our spirits and the necessity of living lives of righteousness elder john E moulton a late mis flonary also occupied a few moments referring to the difference that existed among the children of men lie he considered god was justa and the cause of the difference was the result of our solves either here bore or in 11 our primeval state in the manner we kept the commandments mand ments of our father in heaven and obedience to known duties f apostle lyman occupied the remain der of the forenoon rie he dwelt on the importance of being as energetic in our labors at home as when on missions the keeping of a brief history of our travels and the events of life the necessity casity of reviewing our actions so 80 that thab we might improve in the future and said the course we pursue in this life will determine our life la a world to come just as an our actions before w came here determined our posT tion an here on this earth 2 P M after the usual exorcism ezero isea apostle lyman gave some instructions to the bishops relative to making their reports and the various things he wanted them to refer to the various bishops then reported the condition of their wards which was very satisfactory president jos joe E R taylor occupied the malner re of the afternoon in giving some excellent instructions on th necessity of attending to spiritual duties referring to the negligence that existed with some who atten attendee doo to secular labor labon on the sabbath day instead of coming to meeting and concluded by saying that any man that will exempt himself from sabbath meetings ee tings will dry up in his bis faith and become indifferent Ind efferent towards the work of god he ee exhorted the saints to listen to the warning voice of the servants servant of god pay their tithes and offerings and the spirit ut of god would ever abide with them A priesthood meeting was hold held at 7 80 m when much valuable instruction p was given by apo apostle tie lyman sunday 10 am elder charles H wilcken was the first speaker he contrasted the great difference that existed in heber now and when he lived here over thirty years ago in the great improvements that had bad been made he referred to the first principles of the gospel and spoke at length on the pr principle inci pip of obedience making some good remarks on the same president joseph E taylor occupied the remainder of the forenoon in speak ing on obedience showing that all our principles are susceptible of being demonstrated and capable of proof referring to the mission of jesus and the office of the comforter he referred to the blessings promised to abraham isaac labac jacob and joseph the prophet and how bow their fulfillment fulfilment would literally come to pass pan 2 pm Prom president ident hatch said so far as he be knew wasatch stake was in a prosperous condition good health good litigation almost unknown and crops reasonable peace and brotherly love prevailed and perfect liberty existed he referred to the stake house bouse and the district school that had just juat been finished and thi thought aught it spoke well of the liberality and goodness of the people he hoped in the near future we would have bave erected a first class building for our church school the sacrament was then administered after which the general and stake authorities were presented and unanimously sustained apostle lyman occupied the remain der of the time tim a in speaking on temple building and the requirements that would be made to finish the temple in salt lake by next april conference in 1893 his remarks were truly refresh ing and the saints felt to rejoice that they lived in this thin great dispensation and bad the privilege of assisting in so 0 o great and glorious a work HENRY CLEGG stake clerk |
