Mrs. Ruth Shumway and family were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Shumway in Tremonton Sunday. David Shumway of Provo was also a guest of the Shumway home. Visiting Mrs. Louise Harper Saturday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Holt of Salt Lake City. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Limb and family were Cathy Limb and Cheri Schwartz of Logan. Henry Brown accompanied by Bengt Johsson of Kaysville spent Monday at Lava Hot Springs. The American Farmer degree is a highly coveted award because it is presented to approximately one member in 700 of the 485,793 total FFA membership. It is presented only by the National FFA organization to members who have demonstr- ated exceptional agricultural and leadership ability. Each American Farmer degree recipient will be presented are The girls will take the classes on Tuesday nights after school and when sufficient hours have been spent in preparation they will be eligible to do volunteer work at the local hospital. Members of the club will be selling Christmas items in an effort to purchase the youth pinafores that are required 'to wear when they are doing the volunteer work. This is a project that the local high school club has been desirous of for a number of years and the students, both boys and girls, can through this project, discern whether they are really interested in nursing and other health related careers, a spok . . . Dinner Guests Dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Westergard Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Brent Westergard of Salt Lake City. The occasion was Nephi Westergards birthday anniversary. Spending the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. LaMont Richards and family were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lasley of Smith-fiel- Members of the Bear River High School Future Nurses club will be recipients of intensive training at the local hospital He is a 1974 graduate of Bear River High school and was active in FFA there. He also served as studentbody vice Two Box Elder county men have been nominated to receive the American Farmer degree, highest degree presented by the National FFA organization. Brent L. Rose, Park Valley, and Curtis Conger, Tremonton, were nominated by the Utah FFA association. The nominations were approved at a recent meeting of the National FFA board of directors in Alexandria, Va. Two of the 701 FFA members nominated for the degree, the Box Elder county men will be accorded the honor Nov. 13 pending final approval of 119 student delegates who represent FFA members in national convention business session. a gold kay and cetificate by the national FFA organization. Recipients who attend the convention will also be presented a check from the National FFA foundation to help pay their travel expenses.
