Show I t 16 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, November 7, 1974 Portage Pennings Resident undergoes surgery in Salt Lake by Maude R. Harris Mrs. John F. Conley underwent gall bladder surgery at the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City Wednesday. Her condition is reported as satisfactory. Members of her family, her husband, daughter, Vodis Ward and son, Dr. Max Conley have been with her constantly. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris Tuesday evening were their daughter, Carol Pettingill, Mrs. Anna Bowman, Jeanette Bowman and son Rick, all of Toppcnish, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Madsen of Wendell, Idaho, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph deed of Malad. Carol and the Bowmans were overnight guests of the Harriss and spent a few days visiting relatives and friends in the Salt Lake and Provo area. Saturday, Elder Rick Bowman entered the LDS mission home. Anna remained for a longer visit with her sisters in American Fork and Orem and Carol and Jeanette returned to the Harris home Saturday and left for their homes Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell C. Hall attended the stock show at Ogden Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Merrill of Idaho Falls were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. David P. Gibbs Monday. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Morris and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morris before going to Bountiful to visit with their sons and families. Word was received by Mr. and Mrs. E. Wynn John of the birth of a new granddaughter born to Mr. and Mrs. W. Wynn John of Lafayette, Ind., Oct. 28, their fourth child. . Debbie Snow was baptized by her father, Samuel E. Snow Saturday evening and confirmed a member of the LDS church at Sacrament meeting Sunday, also by her father. Kim Gibbs and Julee Hawks, USU students and J. Neal John, LDS business college student spent the weekend at their homes here. Leader Here The American Party hosted national Anderson, Tom chairman, of Pigeon Ridge, Tenn., Saturday when he was escorted from the Box Elder county border by a motorcade in which Mrs. Loren (Joyce) John, secretary of the party rode in the lead car. They moved on to BRHS where a rally was held and from there to Cache county for another rally. That evening a banquet was held in Mr. Anc dersons honor at the Motor Lodge, Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Nielsen hosted a family buffet dinner at their home Sunday afternoon with guests including Mr. and Mrs. Gary Cannon and family of North Ogden, Mrs. Mildred Tovey and her mother, Mrs. Esther Hall of Malad, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Nielsen and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nielsen, the occasion being the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Nielsen. The Malad Stake Relief Society presidency, Verna Allen, Ruth Hansen, Charlene Corbridge and Bea Sorenson visited Relief society meeting here Tuesday. Mrs. Ray Nielsen received medical care at the LDS hospital in Logan Thursday and Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd VanNoy of Boise, Idaho, were the guests of brother-in-la- Boyds and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice and Thomas Wednesday Thursday. They attended sessions at the Logan LDS temple during that time. Halloween Party The Primary Presidency entertained the children at a Halloween party Monday afternoon in the cultural hall of the ward meeting house. The hall was decorated with halloween motifs. Games and refreshments were enjoyed by the group. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Gibbs attended the stock show at Ogden Sunday. They also visited with the daughters of Mrs. Effie Hoskins, Stella and Rita. Mrs. Hoskins is visiting in Rupert with her son Clyde and family. LaRue Nichols and children of American Falls, Idaho, visited Thursday with LaRues parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hoskins. David P. Gibbs was honored at a dinner party by Mr. and Mrs. Noel D. Gibbs and family at their home in Perry Sunday BAZAAR and Cakes from a vacation trip to points in Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. James Yarman and family of Clearfield and Mr. and Mrs. Thayne Hupp and family of Hansel Valley visited with their parents, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Morris. Mr. and Mrs. Devere Harris were in Salt Lake City Friday on business. Enroute home they visited their summer home in Liberty and found four inches of snow there. Maude Harris and Carol Pettingill accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gleed to Salt Lake City Wednesday where they visited relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Maughn and son Jason of Wellsville visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. L. Gibbs and Mr. and Mrs. LaDell Gibbs and family. Baby Blessed Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris accompanied Mrs. Pheobe Henrie of Tremonton to Salt Lake City Sunday where they attended Sacrament meeting at Parleys First Ward where the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phil R. Harris was blessed by her father and given the name, Natalie. Those assisting were members of the bishopric, grandfather, Virgil Harris and Bud Scalley, formerly of Tremonton. The Harriss and Mrs. Henrie were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Harris and family. sons Hoskins, Murray Richard and Brent and Randy Stanger and his brother of Clearfield area spent Friday night and Saturday hunting in this area. Mr. and Mrs. Devere Harris and daughter Lori were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Budge and family of Logan. Mr. Budge was a successful elk hunter Saturday. Mrs. Owen Nielsen and daughters, Natalie and Keeley, Mrs. Reed Nielsen and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nielsen dressed in Halloween costumes and went to North Ogden Wednesday evening and surprised Mr. and Mrs. Gary Cannon and sons, Darren and Dustin and spent the evening with them. Leonard Hoskins and son Todd of Ogden visited Sunday with Leonards parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Hoskins. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ward and John F. Conley visited with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Gibbs, Arthur Gibbs and Mrs. Thelma Gibbs Sunday on their way to Idaho Falls. Mr. Conley and Mrs. Ward has spent the week with Mrs. Conley at the hospital in Salt Lake City and in Bountiful with Dr. and Mrs. Max Conley and family. Jeanetta Udy and children spent Saturday with her sisters and their families at the home Mr. and Mrs. Chester P. Neal hosted a family dinner at their home Sunday in honor of their and son of son, daughter-in-laLogan who will be leaving soon for Boston, Mass., where they will make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Devere Harris and daughter Lori, Sherry Budge and Donna Cobia and their children spent Saturday at the Harris summer home in Liberty. Wayne Hoskins and children of Roy and Jack Hoskins and children of Ogden spent Friday night and Saturday with' their parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hoskins. Gwen Patsyk of Brigham City visited Monday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loren John. Her sister, Christen John returned home with her to spend the week. Halloween carnival big PTA success by Carol Southern Mountain View School Halloween last carnival Thursday night. was a success, Pauline Jeppsen tells us. Trick or treaters were pretty scarce around town until after the carnival. The money made at these carnivals is used for field trips, Christmas treats and improvements to the school for the benefit of the children. Our thanks to the mothers, teachers and all those helpers, who did such a fine job. The Arland Tingey family took a trip to Elko, Nev. last Saturday and Sunday. They came back through Twin Falls, Idaho. Get well wishes to Norman Jeppsen. Diane Hall and son Brad spent last Saturday visiting Becky Hall in Provo. Becky is a student at B.Y.U. On the way home they stopped in Salt Lake City to see Family Portrait at the Promised Valley Playhouse. Cresta Sorenson and Rita Nelson spent Monday on a shopping trip in Ogden. They topped off their fun day with dinner at Joyce Craners father from Nesa, Ariz., John Isaason, was here recently. He came to attend the funeral of his nephew, Reed Oyler. During his three-da- y stay, John did some deer hunting. More news from the Craner household is news that Jim Craner has been promoted to meat manager at the Safeway in Roy. Also Ron and Carolyn Craner Tabor have now moved to an apartment in Mike Mantua Meanderings of Rosalie Lamb of Plymouth. Jeppsen, Pam Jeppsen, Cindy Forsgren, and Kaylynn Craner. After the opening song and prayer, a poem was recited and a story told. Then Debbie Wyatt played guitar while she and Debbie Sara joined in a song. Grandma Rita tells us it was a wonderful evening. The four stakes choir gave a program at Sacrament meeting on Sunday evening to a packed house. It was an outstanding program. Birthday Party John and Carolyn Hurd and family went to Ogden Saturday to a birthday dinner honoring Johns father, Wendell Hurd. The Aaronic Priesthood and Young Women had a halloween party last Tuesday night. There was a costume parade and a scavenger hunt. Refreshments and hot were doughnuts chocolate. David and Gladys Clawson Wilsons son, Michael, was released from the McKay-De- e hospital in Ogden following treatment for second and third degree burns on his chest last Saturday morning. He spent two days in the hospital and is doing better now. Get well wishes to little Michael. Recent visitors at the home of Chuck-a-Ram- a. Ogden. Overnight guest at the Sheehan home was Mark Baer of Brigham. Mark Worlds Fair Cresta Sorenson along with Ross and Afton Hansen spent a little over two weeks in Spokane, Wash. They visited the Worlds Fair four different days. They then ventured into Canada. After staying overnight in Radium, they went to Lake Louise. Then they visited the Cardson Temple in Alberta. Also they visited Glacier Park. They spent one day at the Japanese Gardens in Spokane before returning home.
