H. Glenn After losing one game and winning two in the Region tournament, the Willard girls team captured second place in the meet. The loss was to the first place team in an overtime by one point after the regular play ended in a tie. This was the first year for the coach, Dorothy Call, to lead the Willard crew and she indicates that next year should be just as good as most, if not all, the girls will be eligible next year to participate. David and Dorothy are hosting some of Davids nieces and nephews prior to their going on to college at Provo this fall so they plan to attend one of the Willard mens games to see if they can cheer them on to a victory . Thus far they have had more losses than wins so need all the help they can get in the way of moral support. As the friends and relatives were assembled Sunday to honor Donald Wait, his Mother, Jean remarked that it was considerably better to see so many folks gathered on such a happy occasion. It seems that the T.L. Graser family has been assembled on many less happy occasions over the years but they have come through it all without any evidence of bitterness or undue preoccupation with sorrow. Inspire Others In some respects their luck and endurance serves as an encouraging note for some of the rest of us who may sometimes think our lot hard or unduly difficult to bear. The meeting was based upon a rather practical and realistic note suggesting that the challenge and really worthwhile attitude to take is one of making the best of any given situation we find ourselves in and not wish our lives away in vain dreams of what might have been. The morning of Aug. 20 found the Willard chapel hosting the regular Stake Priesthood meeting for the Brigham City South stake. The theme of this meeting centered around organization, planning and directive goals that accomplish A measurable progress. talks and several filmstrip approached this topic from several angles with President Gilbert stressing the fact that the Lord expects measurable progress toward worthwhile goals. As a personal application of the various messages given during the day and week, Ive been thinking that we are all aware of the statement that, practice makes one perfect, especially as this relates to athletics and music etc. This statement extended to our everyday lives brings to mind that we daily practice whatever it is we do on a regular basis but do not actually realize progress toward perfection unless directed toward improvement in some way. For example, practicing a vice does not produce a virtue just as practicing a poor attitude in baseball does not make one a better player. In baseball we have coaches to assist in guiding the efforts of practice sessions so that desirable habits are made and in music the teacher guides the practice efforts of her pupils so they cultivate good habits. Form Goals In other areas of our lives it follows that we need to consider directions and goals our practice sessions are leading us toward and make adjustments if we desire something different than the way we seem to be headed. As an example, I daily practice how to be a batchelor and probably develop habits that make this role more secure and permanent, however, a unless this represents situation I plan to be permanent, some different habits should be cultivated in attitudes as well as practice sessions. So it is with most of what we do, we daily seed the ground acfuture from which complishments will grow and develop so it is important that we carefully select what we practice in attitudes and actions as they will be the crops we harvest at seed time. In some respects the events surrounding the Watergate event represent a sort of harvest of past practices and at- titudes by those who planted the seeds and so we all will have a harvest time according to what we plant and cultivate In our minds and actions. by Flo Munson Mr. and Mrs. Ronald the Expo 74.
