Richards began service with the Utah General depot on Dec. 10, 1841, where he served seven months. On Sept. 16, 1942 he was employed at Bushnell General hospital until he served with the United States Navy from May 24, 1943 to Dec. 31, 1945. Following military furlough he was reemployed at the military hospital from Jan. 7, 1946 through June 1, 1949.
