HOWELL HAROLD GEORGE MUHLESTEIN Father of four January 22 , 1929 - April 21, 2003 Harold George Muhlestein, son of George and Ella Clark Muhlestein, was born January 22, 1929 in Lehi, UT, at the home of grandfather, James B. Clark, while his father served a mission in Germany. He spent his young years in Pleasant View on the foothills of the Y Mountain and had close family association with both sets of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He attended the Page, Joaquin Elementary School, Farrer Junior High School, Lincoln High School in Orem and BYU, graduating with honors in secondary education history and geography in 1956. He also attended several summer schools at BYU and one sum- mer of a National Science Foundation program at the University of Oklahoma. He served a mission to the Western States from 1948-50- . He married Fay Lunceford in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 14, 1951. To this union were born five children: Randolph, James, Brent, forced to retire because of ill health. He liked school, loved his subject and especially the students. He was elected San Juan Court J udge in 1978 and served in that capacity until he retired in 1994. He had two compelling interests in his life: farming and County Monticello High School from 1956 to 1976, when he was J ustice He loved music, sports, hunting, hiking and camping. He and his wife published a history of Monticello to 1937 for the city centennial in 1988 and have done part of the research of the remaining years of the town history. He hunted with his family and friends as long as he could, indulged his love of farming in various projects, played in a dance band and was blessed with many faithful friends. He departed this life on April 21, 2003. Funeral services were April 26 with interment history. We are grateful for good home teachers and visiting teachers and priesthood leaders who have been so faithful. We are grateful for all who cared to ask about him. He is survived by his wife, five children, four daughters-in-law- , Daniel and Jani. Harold taught school at Karl Mickie A. Howell, a resident of Dove Creek, CO, passed away on April 23, 2003 at his residence. He was 73. Funeral services were held on April 28, 2003 in Cortez. Military rites were performed by the VFW Post, Dove Creek. Cremation took place following the services, and internment services are scheduled 26 grandchildren, three great-grandchildre- two n, aunts and an uncle.
