Project Summary: The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and the Four Corners Heritage Council (FCHC) have prepared a Environmental Assessment (EA) for the U.S. National Park Service (NFS) to facilitate a required NPS decision regarding proposed improvements for the Four Corners Monument Tribal Park and Rest Area. The purpose of the project is to upgrade and improve the facilities of the Four Corners Monument to increase its capacity to provide economic benefit to the surrounding community from expanded visitor use and accessibility. Incidental to this purpose will be an increase in welfare and convenience for residents of surrounding communities and visitors and the cooperation for the promotion of inter-Tribmanagement and development of common resources. The project is funded equally by the U.S. Department of the Interior and the four participating states of Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico, for a total of $4 million.
