Palmer and Francom tied for the Best Actor award in a performance that judges raved about. One judges comments were simply Wow, another said, Ive seen this play presented many times but never have I seen one presented better than this. Great, Each Monticello High School student who participated in the 2A state drama festival brought home a superior rating, an unprecedented performance for the school. Superior scores for MHS at 2A state drama festival The Monticello High School team boasts only ten players, however they made the most of it at the 2A State Drama Festival, held April 25 and 26 at Parowan High School. Katie Andrews, Kaylynn Petersen, and Jade Argyle earned superior ratings for a play scene from Arsenic and Old Lace. Niels Palmer earned a superior plus rating for a humorous interpretation entitled Monticello Shackspear. coaches Patti Husted and Becky Cochran say they had never seen a superior plus score earned. Five of the students bringing home superior ratings and medals from the State Tournament are first-timstudents in drama. They include Jade Argyle, Kaylynn Petersen, Katie e Andrews, Lisle Jack and Amanda Fuller. Patti Husted invites area residents to get a taste of the drama talents of this group at the annual awards night, which will be held May 13 at 7 p.m. at the Monticello High School Auditorium. in dramatic interpretation with The Broken Doll.
