On Tues3 and 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 Nov. day p.m. she will share the skills and the features techniques she has developed for carving and designing block prints during a special workshop at the Moab Arts & Rec Center. Savage, previously a designer and instructor for the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, has recently settled in Moab and opened the Cave Dreamers Gift Shop to help showcase her work. Prevalent throughout her defigsigns are petroglyph-inspire- d ures. This ancient Indian rock art lends itself naturally to block printing, which has long been a fascinating folk art, practiced by many including Everett Ruess. Participants can create any style of design, from landscape to Christmas motifs. Phil Dulle retires . . . It was just a little more than 3 years ago that Phil Dulle came to work at Allen Memorial Hospital. With over 30 years of experience Phil was hired to act as Laboratory Manager, within a short time he was appointed to the position of Director of Ancillary Services. It was Phils responsibilities to oversee the Laboand Respiratory Therapy departments. Phil has contributed a lot to ratory, this community. He was involved with the Moab City Recreation Program along with Beth Hoffmeister, where he coached little league football for the youth in this area. Phil announced that his retirement would include regular trips to the golf coarse. The Grand-V- u Drive-Iand Hilltop Drive-I- n both thrived in Moab Valley during the uranium boom and for a number of years after. For years Savage has been known to use everything from flower petals to coffee grinds to create textures and patterns in her paper. On Saturday, Nov. 7 from p.m. students will learn her many tricks for making paper by hand. Savage has been known to combine these two crafts - paper making and block printing - to make unique greeting cards for birthdays, holidays or any occasion. Its never too early to holistart thinking about hand-mad- e day gifts, so contact the Moab Arts & Rec Center at 2 or stop by at 111 East 100 North to register for either of these workshops. The block print workshop (ages 9 and up) costs $35 for the two days including materials; the papermaking workshop (ages 6 and up) costs $5 for kids (ages 9 should be accompanied by an adult) and $10 for adults.
