"The coach did say something to us this week about putting what has happened behind us and moving ahead with these last four games."' he said. "We're kind of a team with our backs to the wall, but we knew there could be a light at the end of the tunnel if we just played hard in our last four games. Coach still believes in us and we just wouldn't give up." That never-say-di- e attitude imif pressed Snyder, nobody else. "There's no quit in this team," he said. "We're kind of wounded, both in players who can't play and in some of 'hose who still are playing. And yet they were able to do what they did today. I'm really pleased. But the failure of Ricks' Diane Wilson to win the women's championship was. Wilson was demolishing the field when she became lost midway through the race. Standing on a bridge near the finish line, Wilson kept asking, "where do I go? Which way do I go?" Eventually Wilson crossed the finish line although she hadn't finished the course. When Ricks coach Doug Stutz told her not to worry about her race, Wilson replied, "I'm going up here to cheer for my team- mates." "A course needs to be marked that people don't get lost," Stutz said. "They had people on the course for the men's race. I wonder where those people were. "Diane has shown what she can do," Stutz continued. "It's just unfortunate that she doesn't get the region championship." After some discussion, meet officials disqualified her. Our passing attack worked we felt if there was one place we could attack BYU, it would be in the secondary, and we did. We haven't been a great deep route team because we don't have a lot of speed, but we decided we'd go deep at least a couple of times a half just to back them up, if nothing else, and it worked. for us.
