Coach Mike Jones, beginning his tenth season as the head coach of the Ute Cross Country team, will be looking for some improvement in his athletes. Last year, both men's and women's teams finished sixth in their respective conferences, and Jones expects that this will change. "We're always looking to improve, " Coach Jones said. This year's men's squad returns seniors Knut Bakken and Kip Jenkins as well as junior Bruce Gardener. The recruiting for the men was impressive this year, netting the reigning Utah State mile champion in East High School's John Schiefer.
