Dixon's remarks came in Washington as he briefed reporters about the commission's 1995 base closure recommendations. The list recommended closing 79 bases, realigning 26 and changing 27 recommendations from the 1991 and 1993 base closure lists. President Clinton approved the List 13 and passed it to Congress. Dixon said he expects Congress to approve base closures in 2001, but added they may not set an actual date until both parties solve some administrative differences.
