To alleviate this situation and make the environment look as professional as its people, spring cleanup day at Hill AFB will be held April 18. To assure a safe spring cleanup, around the base and at home, following are some items that will assure a fire-saf- e project: Painting: Don't use gas for mixing paints or cleaning brushes. Mowing lawns: Make sure equipment is in good condition. Never refuel equipment in an enclosed area. Family barbecues: Use approved charcoal lighter only. Never use gasoline. Never barbecue in a closed area burning charcoal is deadly inside. To be sure that everyone on Hill AFB knows how to burn charcoal properly, the base Fire Department has the following stipulations: Thoroughly soak and cool charcoals before disposing of them in proper metal containers, with lids. - Ensure adequate fire extinguishers are available. - Locate grills no closer than 25 feet from base facilities, buildings and vehicles. Sergeant, airman earn Military Image Award A noncommissioned officer in charge of the Military Records Unit and a security patrolman and entry controller were selected for the Hill AFB Military Image Award for the first quar- ter 1986. TSgt. Ricky J. Brown, 2849th Air Base Group Consolidated Base Personnel Office, and A1C Charles H. Noonan of the Security Police Squadron were selected for their military bearing and behavior and pride and professionalism in accomplishing their daily duties and their Air Force careers. The Military Image Award Program here is sponsored by the Base Enlisted Advisory Council. Selections are made quarterly from nominations submitted by supervisors. Red Cross volunteer positions now vacant The Red Cross Office on Hill AFB is looking for volunteers in most areas of the hospital. However, if hospital work is not your interest, there are vacancies in the office for administrative aides and caseworkers. In addition, the Legal Office would like to train volunteers in using their word processor. Volunteers for child care duties are also needed. The next orientation for new and previous volunteers will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Red Cross Office, Bldg. 308. For more information call Ext. 71855. Also, under the new and revised schedule, the American Red Cross will hold its blood drawing on April 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Thornton Recreation Center, Bldg. 460.
